What we do
As coaches we are honored to have the opportunity to assist you in your CrossFit experience. Each of us thrives on continually learning how to develop skills that assist us in our daily activities. Whether it be sport, defending our house, family or country, to lose weight, to move unassisted, or just for exercise. Our goal is to help each of our members to be good at all things, conquering weaknesses and removing limitations.
The Daily classes will train much like serious athletes train…as a team. We will warm-up together, work on skills movements together, then go through the movements of the day and WOD as a group. We will not give you a program and leave you to work out alone. You will not be allowed to do your own program. You will be trained under strict supervision following the prescribed program every day. This is for your own personal safety, and it provides you with the most efficient and effective avenue for constant improvement. All workouts can be scaled and altered to meet any needs or limitations.
If you are a sport specific athlete we can work with you to ensure that your training is supplemented and enhanced by CrossFit WODs, and we can design a specific plan for you and your needs. CrossFit is broad and general, and exists to improve overall fitness – that improved fitness can carry over to whatever athletic endeavors you have, and our qualified staff can make sure that happens through individualized planning.
Our Programing:
The premise of CrossFit is that we are preparing our bodies for the unknown and unknowable. The very basic assumption of this, is that we are aware of how to move are bodies in a safe, controlled and efficient manner at various speeds.
Our experience shows that the most effective people at moving their bodies are elite level gymnasts. At the core of our warm up (dynamic stretching, banded good mornings, hollow rocks to supermans) is practice of moving our bodies to positions that are effective, stable and safe for us to perform explosive, powerful movements without sacrificing stability.
Each week gymnastic movements are programmed into the met con portions or the skill session of our workouts because the practice of these movements sets the stage for everything else. If you can’t do an air squat below parallel then it’s time to rethink trying to get stronger in any weighted squat (Back, Front or overhead). Developing the awareness and skill of how to get your body to the correct position is a prerequisite to getting stronger without injury.
“The magic is in the movement and how it is performed.” -Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit.
Strength sessions incorporated prior to the workout are used for multiple reasons: To produce more force to move larger loads. To practice, for developing/rehearsing skill and to eliminate weaknesses that may exist. Certain biases are given to the exercises that are chosen for these pre-workout sessions based on experience with what yields the greatest dividends.
In our first year of business the focus was to deliver a broad base of workouts to encompass general physical preparedness. As we grow, the focus of the programming will continue to be in preparing for anything but with certain opportunities for specialization. As our members evolve, so will the programming. We have a wide range of athletes, all of whom will continue to benefit from the constantly varied daily workouts. The coaches leading your class can be consulted with any issues and will modify accordingly.
